               As per the formation/ Re- organization of District by the State Government according to the Government vide G.O.Ms. No. 226, Revenue (DA-CMRF) Department, Dt: 11.10.2016 have notified Jagityal as New District comprising with (03) Revenue Divisions (Jagityal, Metpally and Korutla(New)) and (18) Mandals namely Jagityal, Jagityal Rural(New), Raikal, Sarangapur, Beerpur(New), Dharmapuri, Buggaram(Newp), Pegadapalli, Gollapalli, Mallial, Kodimial, Velgatoor, Korutla, Metpalli, Mallapur, Ibrahimpatnam, Medipalli and Kathlapur.

  1. GEOLOGY :

The rocks in the District belongs to Archaean, Meso Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic age. The southern Indian Peninsular Gneissic complex of Archaean age occupies a major part of the granites, Grano-Diorite are exposed in a massive spread. The Peninsular Gneissic Complex are intruded by basic dykes and Quartz Pegmatite Gneissic, basically the dykes are in massive discordant body with North East to South West direction in discontinuous body at surface. General trend of granites is NNW-SSW and which is follows general trend of the Dharwars.

Proterozoic sediments which overlie the rocks of Peninsular Gneisses Complex occupy the eastern and northeastern parts of the regional trend of the Godavari valley. These segments have been classified in to Pakhal Super Group, Penganga and the Sullavai Group.

The rocks of Mallampalli Group unconformable overlie the Archaean with Litho units the lower most Balapalli formation of the Mallampalli group comprises Arkose with inter bedded dolomite.

  1. Mineral Resource and Leases  :
  • Jagityal is enriched with minerals like Multi Colour Granite useful for decorative purpose, Stone & Metal useful for Building and Road constructions and also sand, morrum and bricks useful for house construction purpose.
  • Multi Colour Granite available in the district is quarried by various private lease holders and is being marketed under the trade names of “Tan Brown, Maple Red” Building Stone & Road Metal is also quarried from grey granite hillocks and also from Sand Stone formation which is useful for civil construction works of Government and Private works.
  • The main activity of minerals is found in Jagityal, Raikal, Sarangapur, Beerpur, Dharmapuri, Buggaram, Pegadapally, Gollapally, Mallyal, Kodimyal, Velgatoor, Korutla, Metpally, Mallapur, Ibrahimpatnam, Medipally, Kathalapur Mandals. In Jagithyal, Pegadapally, Gollapally, Malyal Mandals Granite quarry leases are located. Around Velgatoor, Buggaram, Kodimyal, Korutla some Stone & Metal quarry leases and Stone Crushers are located.
  • Further Jagityal District Limestone, Dolamite, Laterite (Low Grade Iron Ore 40%) Minerals found in Nirkulla, Dharmapuri, Potaram, Narsimhapally, Ganeshpally, Beerpur, Bhattapally Villages of Jagityal District. Quartz and Feldspar Minerals available in Buggaram Village, Dharmapuri Mandal and Kishanraopet Village Velgatoor Mandal and Muthanoor Forest Compartment of Dharmapuri Mandal. Low Grade Iron Ore Deposits are noticed in Gollapally Village and Mandal of Jagityal District.
